The Importance of Good Art -- yes, even in a math book!, July 11, 2008
As a homeschooling parent and former charter school teacher, I have learned that the type of art depicted in a child's textbook can really make a difference in how well the child absorbs the material. This is especially vital in mathematics. I was so pleased to find, at last, a math workbook that is free of all the cutesy, silly illustrations that seem to proliferate throughout kindergarten texts. Never underestimate the power of art! When children start to feel discouraged because of difficulty learning a concept, the parent can point out that the great masters often had difficulty completing their works of art, or that the saints depicted in the art often had to struggle to persevere in their quest for Christian perfection....something many of us can relate to in our struggle to perfect our math skills.
Seton Press has proven to be an invaluable companion to all homeschooling parents in their excellent texts! You will not be disappointed!
