The BEST first grade English book , November 24, 2008
Reviewer: anonymous

In my career as a charter school K-3rd grade teacher I used many different language arts programs, some of which included a study of English grammar. When I began homeschooling, I knew I wanted to introduce my son to grammar early. After trying several English texts for first grade and being disappointed with all of them, I purchased English 1 For Young Catholics -- I will look no further! My son loves the text and likes to complete several lessons a day. He is learning faster than ever, while he had been bored with the other texts. We will definitely be using the English For Young Catholics series as our English curriculum!

A word of caution: do only one lesson a day at first. If your child is already able to read a little, then you can probably do more than one...but start with just one a day. The book is challenging, so you as parent will be the best judge as to what level of challenge is appropriate for your first grader.
