Level One: Italia
(Italy) is ideal for all students who have completed Primer A Puella Romana, Primer B Britanni et Galli
and Primer C Civitates Europae
. Also excellent for older student with some experience with Latin.
The first intermediate reader offers longer stories and poems than the primers, using first and second declension nominative nouns, simple being verbs and intransitive verbs and prepositions with the ablative and accusative cases incorporated in illustrated stories about ancient Italy.
The accompanying Italia Workbook features a thorough examination of first and second declension feminine, masculine and neuter nouns. First and second declension adjectives ending in -us, -a, and -um are used extensively and the student will learn to modify first and second declension nouns in the nominative case, as well as have many opportunities to decline nouns in all cases, using declension charts. Drills with identification of sentence elements, construction of adjective phrases, prepositional phrases, translation of sentences, proofreading, and extensive vocabulary review and more are featured throughout.
Recommended Grades 5 and up.
The reader is small format (5-1/2” x 8-1/2”) and has 69 pages. Translations included.
The 70-page workbook gives an in-depth explanation of the grammar and provides plenty of exercises and drills of grammar concepts. Also included: complete answer key and a 14-week suggested lesson plan, plus a teacher’s guide.
