Seton's Description:
Schoolroom in the Parlor. (The 4th book in the Fairchild Family Series). School in the Kentucky hills goes from August to the last Friday before Christmas. After that the snows are too high, and later, the thawing rivers too full, for the Fairchild children, and their neighbors, the Wattersons, the Sawyers, and the Huffs, to make it safely to the little school house in the woods. Now that Althy is fourteen, Mr. Fairchild has other plans for the long winter months. Learn, along with Bonnie, Debbie, Chris and Emmy, what it is like to have school at home in the early 1900ís. Ages 8-up - recommended for 4th grade. Copyright 1959, 1987. Dimensions: 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Quality Softcover. 145 pp.

Comment by Dr. Clark: This is a very light story of a family in which the oldest girl helps to "homeschool" the younger children for a few months during the winter. There are some family values as the children learn together. There are a couple of references to God in a poem, but there is no recognition of God in their daily lives.
